Scotia Winds of Change (SWOC) is a dedicated African Nova Scotian non-profit organization established during Black History Month in 2022, funded by SWEB Development. Its primary mission is to create meaningful opportunities for the African Nova Scotian community, emphasizing education and career development in fields such as engineering, sciences, business management, accounting, computer science, and more. SWOC leverages partnerships within the renewable energy industry to provide community members with access to funding for educational pursuits, participation in professional conferences, and pathways to internships and employment. Beyond its focus on academic and professional advancement, SWOC is deeply committed to addressing pressing social challenges within the African Nova Scotian community. These include domestic violence, health disparities, and mental health concerns. By fostering awareness, offering essential resources, and collaborating with local organizations, SWOC aims to cultivate a supportive environment that enhances overall well-being while empowering individuals to achieve their educational and career goals.
